From Shenzhen, we had to cross back the borders to Hong Kong. We reached the immigration centre by bus. You won't believe the rudeness of the people at the immigration centre.... they pushed and shoved. I did not take a picture of this for fear of getting caught by the Immigration police, they may think I am a spy... hee hee..
However, finally managed to get to Disneyland about noon. with only 7 hours of opening time left.... we went around taking pictures. The queues were really long for the photo session with the characters. Only managed to take pictures with Winnie the Pooh and Tigger, Pluto and Goofy, Chip and Dale. Mickey and Minnie's line was always long and full. Mind you we spent more than a hour just at Main Street (entrance) queuing and finally a bus ride.
Hong Kong Disneyland is slightly smaller than EuroDisney. Queues range from 25 minutes to 40 minutes. With only limited time on our hands, I only managed to sit on the Winnie the Pooh ride and Space Mountain.... nothing else. I heard the Adventureland boatride was good, but the queue was 40 minutes. I caught the Lion King show though and it was great, the performance was smooth.
Got frontrow seats for the Street Parade... The finale was a fireworks display at the Enchanted Castle. I recorded video for this, so no pictures.... But if you have seen fireworks displays during New Year... it's about the same..

We had one day at Shenzhen, but it was spend entirely at the Windows of the World and we watched 2 cultural shows.
Their cultural shows was superb. Choreography was excellent and the girls were soooooo pretty...
In Shenzhen also, we went to the night market, where I bought real Baleno shoes for RM30 and trendy shoe at RM9 and ate 'ma-la mian' (spicy noodle) which was really really good...Also on our menu was 'ping tang hu lu' (fruits covered in sugar syrup)

When to Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Disneyland with my mom and sis for 5 days 4 nights.
My package is '2-to-go' tour, so we do not have a tour group but joined other tour groups while in Hong Kong. The package means, get yourself to Hong Kong and a travel agent will contact you separately. For RM1,933, it was quite interesting.
I flew for the first time with China Airlines, comparable to Air Asia as they use B737 which is a small plane. My mom (a seasoned traveller with MAS, SIA, Thai) actually commented that China Airlines landing and taking off was actually smoother than MAS... Looks like this airline can be considered if you are flying to Hong Kong as Cathay is much more expensive.
Another plus point, my flight to Hong Kong was a morning flight and return on an afternoon flight. I get a lot of extra time compared to those who took MAS and Cathay... More shopping time.....
Managed to get some pictures, but not as much as I had expected.
Day 1 - Free & Easy
Armed with a map, we walked to Ladies' Market for food and shopping. It was like Petaling Street. Food starts from HKD6 (RM3) not very cheap...
Later, took the MTR to Tsim Tsa Tsui and walked to the Arena of Stars to see the view of Hong Kong Island and to wait for the light show at night.
Was really chilly that night......

Penang Hill ~ Beautiful scenery...
|
|
Day 2 in Penang,
started the morning with an tram ride up Penang Hills (Bukit Bendera). It was drizzling throughout the day so at the peak, it was like in Genting Highlands or Cameron Highlands.... misty!
continued on to Kek Lok Si, a chinese temple at Air Itam, which recently have been very commercialised. A long time ago, everything was free.... but then again this is Penang....
went back to the hotel later and enjoyed the swimming pool and water slides, almost like a theme park. The swimming pool is right at the edge of the building so you can actually look over the side of the building...

Penang-Bittersweet experience
|
|
I went to Penang for the long Nuzul Quran holidays and stayed at Gurney Hotel. Good hotel, very convenient.
In that 3 days, we managed to visit Penang Hill, Burmese Temple, Snake Temple and Kek Lok Si.
Enroute to Penang, we stopped over at Ipoh and had the famous "Nga choi Kai" (Chicken and taugeh), ! My sister enjoyed the meal so much, she asked us to eat the same thing again on the day we return from Penang.
Why I say, the trip was bittersweet?
ONE: My car was scratched!! I parked at the foot of Penang Hill and paid parking to the MPPP (Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang) parking attendant (RM3.20). When we return back to our car later that day, there was a long horizontal scratch at my driver side door (made by a key) and it was deep.....(p.s. I hear that cars getting scratched is a norm in Penang, seems they can't help it but to scratch people's car)
TWO: I got a summons parking on a Sunday morning because I did not pay the parking meter! In Selangor, Sunday is a free-parking day, even in Ipoh, parking is free on Sunday, but no, not Penang, everything is about the $$. Everywhere you go, there is people collecting money, legal or otherwise!
We went to somewhere along Burmah Road for breakfast at a coffeshop, after we parked, I actually asked my family whether we have to pay parking. My mom said, it's Sunday, no need! Bad judgement call, now I have a RM15 fine for the stupid parking! That was a really expensive breakfast...
My deduction on this incident, Penang people are money-oriented people, they can't stand the chance not to make a quick buck.
Of course, whatever I say above is my own and personal opinion, I just need to voice out how I felt about the trip because I feel so victimised... No offense to Penangite.
I have met very friendly people over there. At the coffeeshop where I had breakfast, the Char Kuew Teow lady was very polite and kept saying thank you!
For all who will be travelling to Penang, please be wary of these things and don't be like me!

LMC Games Appreciation Dinner
|
|
After the successful LMC Games that we had earlier, we had an appreciation dinner for all the main and sub committees of the Games. We also invited the CEO of the company to join us for the dinner.
We chose Armada Hotel for the Buka puasa varieties, and I must say the satay and otak-otak was delicious!!!
After chowing down a weeks' ration , it was photo session time!

All fun must come to an end....
After 3 days of hard work and intense competition, it is not over until all the banners and buntings that we took soo much trouble setting up on Friday, have to be kept again.
The hardest part of the work was the huge banner that was sticked on a glass window, all the huffing and puffing was needed to pull the banner out.

The opening ceremony was held today. I was in the line dancing team performing 2 dances. We also have cheerleading and band performance. It was a colourful event! The photos here are taken by professional photographer because I was busy with the performance.... He's good!
All the games started today, I was manning the table tennis event. For all the games, we hired professional umpires and referees to ensure that there were no disputes.
That night, there was a participants' dinner at the Grand Blue Wave Hotel, Shah Alam. The entertainment was paper dolls, these 'gals' were really really beautiful....almost unreal!
One more day to go.....
