Cameron Highlands - 1
|
|
I took my mom and sis to Cameron Highlands for 3 days 2 nights.
It was a fun and relaxing time as we managed to visit a lot of places.
Stayed at Rosa Passadena, Brinchang, the hotel is ok. Only complaint was our room window was somehow near the kitchen, so every morning, we will wake up to the smell of fried eggs. Breakfast..so-so only, very little choices and top-up is not fast enough.

LMC Games 2006, Ipoh - Day 3 Closing ceremony
|
|
Finally LMC Games came to a close.
For the HO contingent, we managed to retain the Netball challenge trophy but lost the Table Tennis challenge trophy, and overall HO was 3rd. Langkawi no.1 followed by Kanthan. The score was 20, 16 and 15.
Everyone was tired and exhausted already and could wait to go home. Overall it was an exciting games, next year, it will be organised by Langkawi. Hmmmm..... let me go see what I can do now to get my free ticket to the games!

LMC Games 2006, Ipoh - Day 3 Tug of war
|
|
After the swimming event, everyone proceeded to the football field for the tug of war event.
The finals for football (Langkawi vs Kanthan) was not over yet, so we had to wait. In the end, Langkawi won the football finals.
Our tug of war team is all small sized people as you dont really see big guys at Head Office. So our chances at tug of war was really slim, but the guys pulled well. Just that the other side was stronger. The final for tug of war was Langkawi and Kanthan. Langkawi boasted that they only send in team B not team A as team B managed to win last year. The winner for tug of war was Kanthan... Surprise win as the previous winner was Langkawi!! Ha ha ha, serve Langkawi right for boasting so much!
Sorry, I am still anti-Langkawi right now....

LMC Games 2006, Ipoh - Day 3 Swimming
|
|
Last day of LMC Games 2006...
Today is the swimming, tug of war and telematch games. The cheerleaders are in green today and it was a HOT day!
We have been summoned to the pool area to perform out cheerleading routine. We cheered and we cheered but clearly HO though they were ok, they could not out-swim the other teams... Guess we need more training sessions!

LMC Games 2006, Ipoh - Day 2 Contingent dinner
|
|
Ahhhh!!!!! No hot water!!! Due to the huge amount of people taking their shower at the same precise moment, the hot water could not reach the 13th floor where we were staying. Had to shower in the cold water which was bbbrrrrrrrr..... CCooollllddd!
The venue for the contingent dinner was at the 14th floor, so we walked up from our floor. The MC for the evening is this guy called Mr Pillay... he has the face for radio... deep voice but ugly! Anyway, don't you hate it when an Indian guy keeps showing off his language proficiency by babbling in Cantonese, Tamil, English and Bahasa... it amuses for a while, after that, it is just damn irritating!
The highlight of the entertainment was a lady called Donna Daniels. She's from Australia, but her stand up routine is like Joanna Kam Poh Poh. All the lewd jokes and sex-related remarks. Loads of kissing going on. She has two assistants; a gay and a girl!
There was one routine where 2 guys were called out and tied to a chair. She told them that she will blindfold them and touch them as she sing her song, they have to show that they enjoyed it. However, after they have been blindfolded, instead of her touching them, she had her gay and guy manager to do the touching. I could take any pictures because I was busy screaming.... Ai yooo, the crowd when wild and everyone was screaming, closing their eyes.... ha ha ha .... later they were unblindfolded and told the truth. I asked one of the guys later, he told me he knew it was a guy when the person sat on him. joker!
Overall the night was fun... there was a dancing session after that and everyone got down and groovy...

LMC Games 2006, Ipoh - Day 2
|
|
Day 2.... The games began....
The cheerleaders are decked out in pink with pink pom-poms, while the HO contingent are in green. As we sat at the stands, we can feel the intense competition that will be pitted out as each contingents fight for the challenge trophies and all the games; football, volleyball, netball, sepak takraw, table tennis, swimming, tug of war and telematch.
For that day, I felt that the cheerleaders worked the hardest compared to the players. The venues for all the games are not near, each 5-10 minutes walk from the main stadium and the cheerleaders have to go to all the games venue to cheer the players on. We were so exhausted.... 5 mins at volleyball, 5 minutes at table tennis, 5 minutes at netball, it was chaotic... Whenever there is a game going on somewhere, my HP will ring..."Where are the girls??? We need you here". We were like the First Aid ppl, immediately we despatch to the venue in need of cheering and set up our routine!
The games went on until about 5pm when for some games it was the finals. Half of the girls went to the netball field and another half at the table tennis venue during the finals.... We won netball!!!! but we lost table tennis Both games was versus Langkawi. The Langkawi team is very strong as they were in the finals for most of the games. Their team spirit is very high, eventhough at times, we are angry at them because they use dirty tactics to disturb the our contingent players during the games. It was very obvious during the table tennis finals. They use their kompang and made loud noises... followed the HO players and chant discouraging words at their side. After that match, Michelle and I was sworn "Anti-Langkawi" for their unsportmanship. However, the Kanthan organisers were not organised... they should have stopped them from doing this, but no.... nothing was done...and they even declared Langkawi contingent as the Best contingent!!! What kind of injustice was this!! Frust!
Anyway, it is just the games, and at 5 plus we return to the hotel to prepare for the contingent dinner that evening.

LMC Games 2006, Ipoh - Day 1
|
|
This is the second year that my company held its Annual Games. Last year, the organisers were the Head Office and it was held in Shah Alam.
You can see the wonderful last year's photos in my previous entries:
http://janetlls.fotopages.com/?entry=564861
http://janetlls.fotopages.com/?entry=564876
http://janetlls.fotopages.com/?entry=576238
This year, it was organised by Kanthan and held in Ipoh, June 23 - 25, 2006.
The Head Office contingent of 56 people and 10 cheerleaders left the office at 9am. We were flagged off by the CEO, Mr Alain Crouy. The journey to Ipoh took about 2 hours, so we arrived at Ipoh in time for lunch. We stayed at Excelsior Hotel, a recently refurbished hotel in the heart of Ipoh town, not far from the 'nga choi kai' place... As usual, with me, it is always about the food!
Being a lousy sports person, the only way that I can get a free ticket to Ipoh was 'other' means..... that's cheerleading, of course! A group of ladies were formed, it was tough work trying to get these ladies as most of the office ppl are shy of the sun..... Luckily, there was these group of fantastic ppl who willingly volunteered to help me out. Thanks to Michelle, Shelley, Sujiah, Norsiah, Nana, Ros, Jam, Siti and Maz.... YOU GUYS ARE THE GREATEST!
I shared my room with Michelle and Shelley, took the floor bed as it is new...(the hotel purposely bought new beds for us... big client! )
The banner for Head Office was done in 2 days. I am proud to say that I was part of the team who slogged over the banner...In a bid to decorate the banner, we suddenly thought of palm prints...so we got 30 of the HO contingent to have their hand painted to form our masterpiece!
The rehearsals for the opening ceremony was held at Stadium Indera Mulia in Ipoh... we attended to get adjusted to the environment and to check out the venues for the games.

KFC lunch with MIX.fm
|
|
I won the GRAND PRIZE for Mix.fm - KFC labour day contest which required us
to send in a reason on why we think everyday should be a holiday! My slogan
(which I could not remember ) was selected as the Grand Prize winner. The
winner gets to have a lunch organised by KFC for 19 of my colleagues at a
nearby KFC.
The lunch was organised by Mix.fm and KFC and it was held on Friday, 26 May
at KFC 1-Utama. All 19 of my colleagues who accepted my invitation, wore
our RED shirt for the event. It was a sight to behold!
We also had a few DJs who joined in the event, Anu, Shazmin and Richard Ng.
They look and sound exactly like their picture on the website and radio
respectively. Richard especially is a great joker and kept us in stitches
during the lunch with lots of humour...
Check out the radio website: http://www.mix.fm
Anu and Shaz is very friendly, and Shaz especially is very pregnant!
The KFC Marketing team decided to document our lunch just in case they may
need some commercial done! So, we had a cameraman pointing his camera at
us, telling us to really express our feelings when eating... HA HA HA...
It was a fun lunch and all my colleagues enjoyed it!
They asked me to join more contest and win it!
I thank KFC and Mix.fm for make my day and my colleagues' day!

Mother's Day at Dragon-i, 1-Utama
|
|
This year's Mother's Day, my family celebrated at Dragon-i, 1-Utama.
The ambience is nice and the siew loong pau (Shanghai pork dumplings) simply delicious!
Initially we wanted Syogun, the Japanese buffet place, but it was fully booked when I enquired on Friday, 12 May. So we decided to try out Dragon-i instead.
Overall, the food there is tasty and nice, a bit pricey, but worth the experience!
Lance took a few random shots of the restaurant.
